Duke is coming!!!

Just finished playing board games with some friends. We were able to get three different games in, so I call that a successful night. We started the evening with 4 players, so we did Takenoko.

I'll do a write-up on it at some point, but basically it's a game about bamboo farming. There's also a panda that roams the farm eating bamboo, but you can also use the panda to your advantage. It's designed by Antoine Bauza, who also did a few other games I'm a big fan of: Samurai Spirit and Tokaido.

Next up was Love Letter.

It's a very simple game, but lots of fun. We played a few rounds with 4 players, but one guy had to leave a bit early, so the other 3 of us kept playing. It was interesting to see how different the game is with differing numbers of players. The complexity vastly decreases as the number of players decreases. Also, each round goes very quickly with only 3 players.

After Love Letter, we lost another player, so I pulled out one of my favorite head to head games: The Duke, and it was a great way to close out the night.
